Relegation / Government FA Intervention Empty Relegation / Government FA Intervention

There's been many foreign owners of football teams introduced over the past decade or so. The other day the FA admitted that these investers are in favour of a relegation free premiership (protecting their investment) and if there was a few more to come in that a 14 out of 20 majority could one day soon become a reality.

It was not so long ago that the confrence champions had to be voted into the football league, when the protection of the bigger teams was disabled it lead to a more competative league in which bigger teams have been plying their trade below the clubs expectations. Currently Wrexham, Luton and Grimsby amoung others are now in the conference which has given the likes of Dagenham, Crawley and AFC Wimbledon a foot hold in football league.

Creating/maintaining this elitism in football would be another step on the road to a widening gulf between the big and small clubs..

FA get your house in order is the cry from the governement, is it just a threat or can government intervention succeed in bringing about a competative flat structure of football the fans want, where the powerful football chairmen's play money doesn't automatically demand a voting right in their favour..
